November Newsletter — The Power of Love in Action!
October was a wonderful month for our District! There was so much happening, and we truly showed the world what Creating Lasting Impact looks like!
Ending Polio — Together, We Make a Difference
We began with World Polio Day at Durham College, featuring a star-studded panel and an opportunity to come together for a cause that means so much to Rotary. Thank you to everyone who came out, and a very special thank you to Dave Andrews for organizing this wonderful event, as well as the End Polio Now flag raisings across Durham!……..
Ending Polio — Together, We Make a Difference
On October 28th, we gathered at Toronto City Hall for another End Polio Now flag raising. There is something so heartwarming and profound about standing on the upper outdoor level of City Hall and watching that flag being raised. It reminds us of the difference Rotarians can make when we come together for something bigger than ourselves.
A huge thank you to Jennifer Boyd for putting her whole heart into organizing this special occasion.
A big round of applause to both Dave and Jenn for your dedication and for helping keep the fight to End Polio Now alive!………

Our District Conference — The Power of Love!
And then came our District Conference! By the way, I am still buzzing from it!
This conference was everything I had hoped for and more. My theme for both the conference and my year as District Governor is The Power of Love, and boy, did we feel it!
A heartfelt thank you to my dear friend and Conference Chair, Paige Fernandes. Paige and I spent countless hours in meetings and conversations, working to define what we wanted this conference to be — not just what we wanted everyone to see, but how we wanted everyone to feel. At the heart of it all was The Power of Love.
Together, we handpicked our team, and what a fabulous team it was! Joe, Matt, Joan, David, Brinda, Binoy, Deb, Donna, Laura and Mal — thank you for bringing our vision to life.
Our incredible MC team, Rebecca and Neil, kept us on our toes (especially me!) and added a healthy dose of humour throughout the weekend. And what would we do without Helen, Larry and Dale? Really, what would our District do without them!
As many of you know, I experienced a bit of a health setback leading up to the conference. Our District Leadership Team and conference team stepped in and took so much off my plate, allowing me the time I needed to heal. I will never forget that.
During the conference, I remember standing there receiving applause and thinking, I'm getting the applause, but it was my team who did all the work! That thought has stayed with me.
To Paige and every member of our team, I love you all, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You didn't just organize a conference; you helped create an experience filled with connection, laughter, inspiration and love. You stood beside me, and that means more than I can ever express.
Thank you to the clubs who hosted our Hospitality Suites and made them such fun places to connect and enjoy one another's company.
And to everyone who attended, thank you for bringing your open hearts and your beautiful Rotary spirit. I hope you had as much fun as I did, and that you left feeling hopeful, inspired and reminded of the incredible difference we can make together.
You certainly helped make this conference one I will hold close to my heart for a very long time.
