The 9 Rotary Clubs in Durham Region , on behalf of your co-hosts, the Rotary Clubs of Oshawa and Oshawa-Parkwood and Durham College invite you to District 7070's World Polio Day 2026 - Live from The Rotary Global Classroom at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario Canada on October 15 (light lunch from 6 to 7 pm and then the LIVE BROADCAST from 7:00 to 8:30 pm (Toronto Time).
The event, LIVE from The Rotary Global Classroom features a panel discussion featuring the three Rotary International PolioPlus Chairs: Dr Bob Scott (Chair Emeritus of the Rotary International Polio Plus Committee ; Mike McGovern (Co-Chair of the Rotary International Polio Plus Committee ), and Valarie Wafer (Past Rotary International Vice President and Co-Chair of the Rotary International Polio Plus Committee), ALL THREE WILL BE THERE IN PERSON. THE FIRST TIME ALL THREE CHAIRS WILL BE IN THE SAME PLACE AT THE SAME TIME.
Together, they will update all of us about Rotary's efforts with our Global Polio Eradication initiative Partners and our challenge, going forward, to End Polio Now.........
LIVE IN PERSON : From 6 to 7 PM: Cash bar and a light lunch will be served. NEW COST IS $ 40 per person (please bring cash or cheque made out to the Rotary Club of Oshawa, and a portion - $10 - will be donated to The Rotary Foundation's Polio Eradication Initiative and will credited to your next Paul Harris Fellow.) We will also see the live mini videos from Rotary International during our live broadcast to Rotary Clubs, to Universities and colleges worldwide and to the public. We will see Proclamations being presented to Cities in Durham Region flag raising too.
Rotary International leaders from around the world will update Rotary's efforts to End Polio Now and will participate in a panel discussion - "What we can do to eradicate polio from the planet - Rotary's promise to the children of the world in 1988".
October 24, 2026 will be proclaimed as World Polio Day in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada and in the Regional Municipality of Durham and in cities all over the world.
