Hello District 7070:

November is Rotary Foundation Month!!!!

The Rotary Foundation is the charitable arm of Rotary. Founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects around the world related to Rotary’s seven areas of focus: peacebuilding and conflict resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development, and most recently environmental sustainability.......

District 7070 benefits each year from money given back to us from the Foundation in the form of District and Global grants.  A recent example is the District $1,000 COVID matching grants.   Over 35 Clubs within our District applied for the grant and will soon be receiving cheques to help with the purchase of PPE, foodbanks, masks and food vouchers.  Numerous other clubs in the District will be receiving grant money for other initiatives around the world including the purchase of water filters and supplies, hospital equipment, and educational training programs.

Next ‘Tuesday Talks’ – The Rotary Foundation

The District Foundation Committee invites all Rotarians and friends to our next ‘Tuesday Talks’ session on November 10, 7pm.  The theme of the ’Talk’ is The Rotary Foundation and Fund Raising in Challenging Times.  We will be hearing from Brenda Cressey a Rotary Foundation Trustee, who has served in several key roles for The Rotary Foundation.  If you want to learn more and gain a better understanding of our Foundation, register at rotary7070.org - don’t miss this session!!

District 7070 Rotary Foundation Walk

Unfortunately. COVID has forced us to reschedule our annual District 7070 Rotary Foundation Walk normally held in October.  Our District continues to be a leading contributor to the Rotary Foundation in North America and the Walk helps us raise over $100,000 each year for the Foundation.   We are encouraging clubs to hold their own local Walk (what a great way to engage your members) and be a part of the District Walk Challenge!!!!   Many clubs have already had or plan to have a local Walk in the next few weeks (and I’ve had the pleasure participating in several walks so far)! Prizes will be granted to three clubs for highest amount collected, most steps walked by club, and most creative way to raise money for the Walk.

Share your Walk pictures on social media and tag #rotary7070. We will choose the three winners and celebrate with everyone next spring when COVID is over (hopefully) and we can all be together again.

Rotary Direct

Ever thought about enrolling in Rotary’s recurring giving program, Rotary Direct?   You can easily schedule a monthly, quarterly, or annual donation that enables Rotarians to change lives in communities around the world.  To make a contribution, go to rotary.org/donate.

Thank you for making a positive difference in the world by contributing to the Rotary Foundation!
