Good wishes, Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors & Earlyactors!
This past month in District 7070 has been nothing short of magical!
There is such beautiful energy in the air — amazing events, fundraisers, social gatherings, and, most importantly, grounded hearts helping our communities.
I’ve seen clubs coming together not only to serve, but to connect with one another. And what I love even more is seeing those social events attracting new members and giving others a glimpse into what Rotary is really about.
I was especially impressed with our Learning Tuesday Youth Panel this past week. Four wonderful young speakers, and it was so clear how much they supported and encouraged one another. I left feeling reassured that our world is in good hands.
I know that everything you do takes planning, heart, and the determination to take action.
And I am incredibly proud of our Presidents — of the collaboration I’m seeing, whether it’s happening on the WhatsApp group, through hands-on help at events, or simply brainstorming and sharing ideas with one another.
This is Rotary at its best.
DON’T KEEP ROTARY A SECRET!
We Rotarians tend to be humble. We don’t always brag about all that we do—but maybe it’s time we did!
Don’t keep Rotary and your achievements a secret. Tell the world!
One of the best ways to do that is through social media. It is such a powerful way to tell our stories, create awareness, showcase what our clubs are doing, and attract new members.
You are doing a phenomenal job with your social media posts. Every photo, every video, every story gives your community a window into Rotary. It shows the commitment, compassion, and energy that exists within our District.
And when people see what we do, they begin to understand how we Create Lasting Impact.

1.25 Million Is More Than a Number
In President Yinka's September 2026 Newsletter, he talks about our goal of 1.25 million Rotarians by 2030 and why it matters to him. He says that behind every one of those numbers is a person whose life could be changed by this organization, just as mine and yours have been changed by it. He added that Rotary has given Yinka friendships that have lasted decades, a sense of purpose he did not know he was searching for, and something that, in time, came to feel like an extension of his family. He suspects many of you understand this in your own lives, in your own way. There are people in your communities right now who would find real meaning here if only someone thought to ask them. He asks us to tell our story honestly how Rotary changed you, not just about the projects you led or the funds you raised but about the person you became along the way. He encourages us to come together, and Create Lasting Impact, the kind that resounds for generations, and we will need more people standing beside us to help carry our work forward. he wants all of us to find your best year. Do YOU Want to: Boost your club's positive public image, connect with a younger group of potential members, and learn some tips how to do all of this using Instagram? Then this is for YOU.
Join Rotary 7070 District Public Image Committee member and York Rotary Club President Beatrix Yip (she knows Instagram) and Zone 28 Assistant Public Image Coordinator Joe Solway as they lead you through story telling and how to use Instagram to connect your club with “younger generations” in your community. And you will learn how easy it is to create "Reels". This session is made for club presidents, club public image chairs and committee members, membership chairs and committee members who want to better connect with younger generations in their community, and great for club members who already know how to add posts to Instagram and make them "work" for your club. There will be lots of time to ask questions from YOU, the audience. A Zoom link will be sent on the Tuesday morning before the event.
We are excited to welcome Rotarians and Friends to the Annual Rotary Foundation Walk to be held in beautiful downtown Campbellford. The Rotary Club of Campbellford is pleased to be hosting the D7070 Rotary Foundation Walk on Sunday Sept 27th, 2026 along with the other clubs in the Eastern Zone. We will feature a BBQ lunch with options for dietary restrictions. The longer walks will include walking along the Ranney Gorge in Ferris Provincial Park, the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge, the Rotary Trail along the Trent River and the Wilf Wilkinson Bench to commemorate Wilf's 2007-08 Presidency of Rotary International.
Bharat Pandya, a member of the Rotary Club of Borivli, Mumbai, India, is the selection of the nominating committee for Rotary International president for 2028-29. He will officially become the president-nominee on 15 September if there are no other challenging candidates. Read more about Pandya.

My apologies for emailing you again so soon. The last few months have seen an extraordinary number of devastating disasters but as one of our dedicated supporters, we want to keep you appraised of our work around the world.
A flash flood swept through northern Nepal on August 26, killing hundreds of people and leaving many thousands homeless. More than 900 people are still missing as entire villages have been destroyed by the floodwaters.
The speed and force of the flood caught everyone completely off guard. Homes were engulfed in seconds, leaving families with little chance to escape. Those who managed to reach safety could only watch as their homes, belongings and livelihoods were swept away.

What an event. Four young adults who told us their story , their Rotary connections, and their tremendous energy and talent that have created fantastic humanitarian projects. It truly was an interactive panel that featured four inspiring youth members who shared their personal Rotary journeys and impactful projects they are leading today. These were very authentic stories from diverse Youth Champions and we sure could see tangible, measurable outcomes from youth-led initiatives that deliver lasting value to clubs and communities. It really is all about how mentorship, service and leadership opportunities shape young people-and how these benefits extend to your club. When you see the video , you will, without a doubt, be inspired and we know you will discover practical ways to invest in and sustain youth initiatives within your own club. This Learning Tuesday really helped shape and elevate youth engagement across our clubs. Here are just a few bits that came from the video: It was an interactive panel discussion featuring 4 youth members sharing their personal Rotary journeys and the impactful projects they are currently involved in as they shared authentic youth impact stories. It helped Rotary members understand the long-term value of youth programs. The program demonstrated how mentorship, service, and leadership opportunities shape young people. Rotarians in District 7070 have been committed over the past nearly 40 years to raising funds to immunize children worldwide and our efforts are paying off. You should be proud of the difference that Rotary has made in the lives of millions of children by eliminating this dreadful disease.
I want to thank you for your past efforts and ask that you recommit to helping us raise funds to finish Rotary’s number one initiative of eradicating polio. Rotary is still committed to raising $50 million a year for this effort.
As such, we are launching the Polio Plus Society and are inviting you to join our efforts to continue to raise funds to eradicate polio. To become a member of the Polio Plus Society you are asked to commit to making an annual donation of $100 USD or more to The Rotary Foundation’s Polio Plus Fund until the last two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan, are certified free of the wild polio virus.

A new way to connect prospective members with clubs
Rotary’s new system for managing prospective members is now live. In the new system, prospective members complete an interest form and choose a club to connect with. Club leaders will receive a notification when someone chooses their club, prompting them to review the membership inquiry. If the club's expectations don't align with the candidate's, they can reassign the inquiry to district leaders.

Each year, more than 30,000 people complete a membership interest form at rotary.org/join . With our new system for managing prospective members, these people connect with a club right away. Club leaders receive a notification email and can sign in to find contact information for their membership candidates. Take action by contacting them, finding out more about them, and sharing information about your club and its culture.
As you prepare for the new Rotary year, remember that engaged members lead to a vibrant club. Members are more likely to be engaged when their needs are met, and the best way to understand your members’ needs is to ask about them. You can use a member interest survey and a member satisfaction survey to gather this valuable information that will help improve your club experience.
These surveys have a new, editable online format, so you can easily customize questions for your members. The guides below will help you do that. After members complete a survey, you’ll be able to view the results online.
Just as routine doctor visits help people identify health risks before they become serious, Rotary’s club health check can diagnose problem areas and prescribe remedies. Club leaders will find a checklist to assess their club’s well-being in the areas of club experience, service and social events, members, image, and business and operations, along with an array of resources to treat any problem areas. Regularly consulting those resources can help maintain your club’s health and preserve its value for club members and the community. A few examples follow, but review the entire document through the website listed below to ensure you’re taking full advantage of these valuable tools.
Past District Governor Mike Cooksey once told me that if you want more Rotary members, you have to ask. He told every Rotarian he saw to "Get your Ask in Gear". His words certainly reflect one of the District 7070 Action Plans. Our goal is to receive 100 inquires from the "Join Us" or "Interested In Joining Us?" button on the District 7070 Website. Here is our challenge to your club: By the end of this Rotary year we want over 45 Rotary Clubs to have a "Join Us" or "Interested In Joining Us?" button on their own club website AND for your club to have a "member conversion process" from these inquiries. The Service Project Center, Rotary’s new digital platform for service activities is up and running and it gives members more opportunities to manage service projects and share stories, best practices, and interests.
With the introduction of this platform, Rotary Showcase has been retired. All Rotary and Rotaract service projects have been transferred to the Service Project Center.
The Service Project Center is faster than the old system and offers a consistent experience across devices and screen sizes. It collects more accurate project location data and provides project management access to all club officers. Users can manage projects from mobile devices and easily share project links in email and on social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn.
In the future, the platform will include a world map of projects, the ability to search for projects by language, and additional resources to help implement projects.
The Service Project Center is a significant asset in Rotary’s effort to engage participants more effectively and increase impact. Users can tell project stories more fully, demonstrating their effectiveness to potential members, partners, and donors. There are more opportunities to provide photos and details, making the project process more transparent and giving members more ways to feel pride in their results.

As we work together to make a difference in communities, we want to better show people the lasting changes that Rotary members make in the world. Measuring our impact means we gather the information that allows us to do that. This handbook will help you plan how you’ll use measurement methods for all the service projects you carry out, whether they’re funded by your club, your district, or The Rotary Foundation.
You’ll find information about different approaches to measurement, practical examples, proven methods, and space for you to record your ideas or practice using the concepts. This will help you learn to plan and measure your projects and collect more relevant data.
Data is a powerful tool to help us learn what’s working and what isn’t. It also lets us create and share compelling stories about Rotary that propel people into action. Showing our impact through data can lead to new partnership opportunities and funding, attract new members, and forge stronger relationships in the communities we work with.

#SewGirlsCanGoToSchool is a drive to end Period Poverty. The project, first started in 2015, has to date delivered over 2000 reusable menstruation kits to girls and women in the Dominican Republic. Our volunteer groups now see female graduation pictures on the wall of the homes of the families we help. Girls are able to continue with their studies without the worry of missing school. Organize your club. Create a hands on project. Your Club can help make the kits. The kits help raise girls up so that they are able to pursue dreams - to get education, delay early pregnancy, feel worthy and an equal to their male classmates, enjoy social engagements with their friends - all because they have something to menstruate on - something that we can make, something that is overlooked yet essential for females to succeed......
BELRAG was formed in 2011. We are a network of Rotarians and others passionate across the world who have a special interest in acting upon the mission and goals of Rotary International related to alleviating illiteracy; enhancing literacy teaching and learning globally, and helping to provide materials and equipment for literacy education at different levels. Like all Action Groups, BELRAG is an autonomous association of like-minded Rotarians, partners of Rotarians, and Rotaractors working in partnership with Clubs and Districts on basic education and literacy projects of mutual concern. Freshwater ecosystems are essential — and under pressure. Rotary and Rotaract club members are helping protect these ecosystems through local projects, from cleanups to water monitoring. Yes it is true, Rotary Youth Exchange is Rotary's Best Program!
I am sure you have all met some of our outstanding Rotary Youth Exchange Students over the years. The program involves students immersing themselves in a new culture, new friends, new schooling and service through your Rotary Club. We have already received 5 student applications for 2027-28 exchanges.
It is time to say you YES to Rotary Youth Exchange ( RYE) at your club.
How do you get a student starting in August 2027?
a. You need to have 2 Rotary members willing to support the program.
b. The yearly cost to the club of RYE is $3,500 to $5,000 depending on the cost of club meetings & events. Only $1,500 is payable in the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The RYE District Committee will provide training for your RYE Committee members, help with marketing materials and support you in recruitment of an outbound student & host families.

In August we received our 5 inbound students who will be with us until July 2027, we just finished our annual orientation in Algonquin Park. Accompanying us were our 2025-26 Outbound students who have returned home from their almost full year adventure. Rotary and Rotaract clubs can now designate a Programs for Young Leaders contact. And Interact club presidents can (with a parent’s consent) complete an optional self-registration form to receive resources and support directly from Rotary International. Both of these changes will help clubs and youth programs expand and grow stronger in part by enabling RI to distribute tools and information to club contacts. The Programs for Young Leaders contacts will stay connected with all of the youth programs their club sponsors, amplifying participants’ ideas and input and advocating for safe, inclusive programs. They will also serve as the main contact for any Interact clubs their club sponsors, attend Interact meetings, and find opportunities for Interactors to attend the sponsor club’s meetings and activities. Nearly a decade ago, while Jennifer Jones was the chair of the Strengthen Rotary’s Brand Committee, Rotary International conducted in-depth research to better understand how the public viewed Rotary, our members, and our work. What we learned was that we needed to reposition the Rotary brand by focusing on clear, consistent messages and a unified visual identity. THIS PROGRAM IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR YOUR CLUB in 2025-26 and in 2026-27. Thirty-three of our District 7070 Rotary clubs have already completed the refresh program. These club websites are getting noticed by the public and potential members who are checking them out. When a prospective member looks to join a club, they look at YOUR club website. A few years ago, we asked Rob MacArthur, our District 7070 Public Image Public Investigator to carry out an investigation on all Rotary clubs with respect to their club's Public Image. Rob looked at your club's basic web site setup as well as social media channels and the way they were being used. A spreadsheet of the results was made available for our District Leadership Team and Assistant Governors to review. The Pie Chart included shows a graphical representation of the results. The Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood is having a Celebration Dinner and Evening of Memories for their 50th Anniversary at the Oshawa Golf Club, 160 Alexandra Street in Oshawa on September 29, 2026, and you are invited. We are calling on all past, present and even future Rotarians and their spouses, together with Rotarians and their spouses from the neighbouring Rotary Clubs, in southern Ontario to join us in celebrating our 50th Year as The Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood.
Chair of the 50th birthday celebration, called “Good As Gold” in honour of the 50th anniversary, is our 2026-27 Rotary Club President Tess Pierce. She and her committee have planned quite an evening starting at 6:00 cocktails and a 7:00 pm dinner. The event will feature many memories that chronicle the 50 year history of having fun and doing good (Good As Gold) in the community, and throughout the world. There will be lots of memorabilia to look at that will bring back fond memories of our past.
We are all looking forward to a three course meal, cocktails, and lots of laughs and memories as we relive some of the fun and festivities.
If you know of or if you are a former member of the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood, please ask them to get in touch with us, as soon as possible. We don't want anyone to miss out on the fun and festivities and the chance to rekindle friendships and make new ones too.

This system (formerly the membership leads management system) gives clubs the ability to directly receive information about and follow up with membership candidates who have expressed interest in joining the club.

Successful clubs set goals effectively. When club leaders plan for the future, they give the club a sense of direction. Whether you aim to welcome more members, complete more service projects, or improve the experience that your club offers, setting goals motivates members to work toward a common purpose. There are lots of tips and tools of the trade when it comes to Public Image, Membership, The Rotary Foundation and Governance, when it comes to you and your Rotary or Rotaract club. This is exactly what we have in store for you.
On Tuesdays, on a monthly basis , we will continue to present learning opportunities, in one-hour zoom sessions, for you and your club members, to help you with many ways that you can learn more about Rotary and really help your club.

In 2024-25-26, we had 9 sessions each Rotary Year : ( No sessions in the months: July, December & June) with sessions allocated as follows: 2 sessions on Governance; 2 sessions on Membership; 1 session on The Rotary Foundation; and 2 sessions on Public Image. Watch the District 7070 Calendar for the time and date. Stay tuned for more details, these sessions are being developed as we speak. And even more planned for 2026-27.

Past District Governor Mike Cooksey once told me that if you want more Rotary members, you have to ask. He told every Rotarian he saw to "Get your Ask in Gear". His words certainly reflect one of the District 7070 Action Plans. Our goal is to receive 100 inquires from the "Join Us" or "Interested In Joining Us?" button on the District 7070 Website. Here is our challenge to your club: By the end of this Rotary year we want over 45 Rotary Clubs to have a "Join Us" or "Interested In Joining Us?" button on their own club website AND for your club to have a "member conversion process" from these inquiries. It's up to you.
