“The Audacity to Start the job; the Tenacity to Finish it” – PolioPlus takes centre stage at Rotary Convention in Calgary
As tens of thousands of Rotarians from around the world gathered at the Rotary International Convention in Calgary, Canada, this weekend, Rotary and the Gates Foundation announced an extended partnership to end polio for good, which will see an injection of nearly half a billion dollars into the effort. Bill Gates and WHO Director-General Dr Tedros both addressed the convention, and thanked Rotarians for their tireless efforts to helping eradicate polio and showing that “in a world where division and despair too often dominate the headlines, Rotarians are writing a different story. Donors pledge US$9 billion to Gavi
This week in Brussels, Belgium, donors pledged US$9 billion in support toward Gavi’s next strategic period (2026-2030). This strong showing is a testament to the power of immunization and Gavi’s history of delivering lifesaving impact at scale. Thanks to Gavi, millions of children’s lives have been saved from deadly diseases. And as a core partner in the fight to end polio, Gavi’s work is essential to delivering a polio-free world.
