To ALL Rotarians in Rotary District 7070:

You can respond to Australian brushfires two ways. More than 100 separate brushfires in Australia have damaged hundreds of homes and forced mass evacuations. Rotary clubs are taking action to provide immediate relief to those affected by the fires. Rotary has a Disaster Response Fund which following a natural disaster like the fires in Australia ensures we can deliver supplies, provide health care, and support rebuilding efforts. There is also the Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS).  By making a donation today, you can help Rotarians respond swiftly and effectively, bringing hope to those whose lives have been affected by disaster. .....

Rotary's Disaster Response Fund:

With more than 1.2 million members worldwide, Rotarians are on the ground and ready to take action to help communities recover when disasters strike.

Rotary members and The Rotary Foundation play a unique role in disaster recovery and rebuilding efforts. Working closely with our partner ShelterBox and other organizations that specialize in disaster relief, Rotary members lead projects to support every phase of a community's recovery.

Rotary supports three phases of relief:

  1. Immediate response: Our local clubs and partners immediately offer helping hands and supplies.

  2. Short-term assistance: Our clubs and districts help affected communities wherever we can through funds and materials to re-establish day-to-day operations.

  3. Long-term rebuilding: Our clubs plan and implement projects that rebuild affected communities.

Rotary Disaster Response Grants

The Rotary Foundation supports disaster relief and recovery efforts through grants from the Rotary Disaster Response Fund.

What Rotary disaster response grants support

Districts that have been affected by natural disasters can use Rotary disaster response grants to launch their own projects or work with established relief organizations to help their communities recover. Grant funds can be used to provide basic items such as water, food, medicine, and clothing. Districts should work closely with local officials and groups to ensure that the funding will meet a specific community need.

The Rotary Foundation also offers funding to support long-term disaster recovery efforts through global grants. Learn more.

Who can apply for a disaster response grant

Once qualified for Rotary grants, districts in an affected area or country may apply for a maximum grant of $25,000, based on the availability of funds. A district may apply for subsequent grants after it successfully reports outcomes from previous grants.

2019-20 Bushfires Appeal

We have all seen the disastrous fires that have erupted, taking lives as well as destroying hundreds of homes and properties across Australia. Rotary is once again taking the lead and looking to provide support for families in need. To this end several Rotary Districts and Clubs have established projects which are ready and able to accept donations from you. All of those projects can apply for funds from this appeal.
