With this new year underway, it is a fitting time to look forward, make plans and establish New Year’s resolutions. It is a time to reflect on the year that has past and determine how to make this year different, better and filled with joy, happiness and success. What are your New Year’s resolutions? Some of the most popular are eating healthier, exercising more, and spending time with family and friends. And what about your Rotary New Year’s resolutions? How about proposing a new member and taking the lead to charter a new club? How about increasing your commitment to The Rotary Foundation, participating in Every Rotarian Ever Year and being a champion for End Polio Now?  Together, we can continue to make the world a better place and share the Magic of Rotary! 

January is Vocational Service Month.  The Object of Rotary is a philosophical statement to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. The concept of vocational service is rooted in the Second Object which focuses on high ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each member’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society.  Consider ways that your club members can engage in vocational service projects within your club and your community like joining a Rotary Action Group, introducing a vocational service award and encouraging members to volunteer.
