WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, EVERY SECOND COUNTS

We can’t predict disasters, but with your support, we can be ready to respond and provide displaced families with the life-saving aid they need right when they need it most.

When disaster strikes, families lose their homes, possessions and livelihoods.

This year, we have helped hundreds of thousands of people recover after losing their homes to disasters. But our warehouses are now empty, and we need to restock them.

We urgently need support to prepare, respond and restock, so we can keep helping families who have lost everything.

Please donate now to help save lives around the world.

Earth Raised Platforms:

We wanted to share an update on our most recent project in Bangladesh, a country that faced one of its worst flood seasons last year which displaced over half a million people.

Thanks to your support, we have built earth‑raised platforms which lift homes above the rising waters with our partner, Uttaran. It’s a powerful example of how your generosity combined with community-led innovation can make a real impact. Because of you, communities once again have a place to shelter, gather, and rebuild.

Watch this video tour below to see the beautiful designs and colours that are used to decorate the shelters.

When Climate and Conflict Collide

Conflict and climate change are driving a double crisis, forcing millions of people to flee their homes. From Lebanon to Mozambique, families are being displaced again and again – by war, drought, floods, and storms.

Did you know...?

- Over 123 million people have been displaced by conflict and violence.

- 78% of internally displaced people live in areas also hit by climate disasters.

- Nearly half of all people forced to flee are children.

Deployment Updates

Burkina Faso

Project 7 has been adapted to include a cash for work element which offers individuals short-term income in exchange for participating in short term shelter construction. The project is on track to start in September.

Chad

Rainy season has reduced access to the two camps we are working at, meaning construction of the last 120 semi durable shelters will be on hold until access improves.

Gaza

Due to ongoing electricity blackouts, there have been further delays in our partner, MAP, providing final data for project 1. Israel continues to blockade humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, causing critical shortage of food and vital supplies. While we were able to deploy tarps and ropes, the final distribution of tents is delayed due to the security situation.

Mozambique

Progress has been made on the construction of the 500 transitional shelters, but all activities are now paused due to deteriorating security situation. It is not safe for teams or suppliers to travel to communities.

Myanmar

The first phase of this project is underway with the first 50 shelters completed. We aim to support 1000 highly vulnerable earthquake affected households with materials and technical support to repair their earthquake damaged shelters.  Implementation will be phased after this initial caseload of 50 households to test the model before scaling up over the following months.

ShelterBox and Rotary are official project partners in international disaster relief. ShelterBox is a registered charity independent of Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation.  Since  2012, we have been neighbours, friends and community leaders. Their aim is to create positive, lasting change in communities at home and all over the world.project partners with Rotary International, a global community of 1.2 million. Rotary has supported ShelterBox from the start when a local club championed the simple idea to package up essential shelter items in our now-iconic ShelterBoxes. As ShelterBox grew, so did Rotary support, and we are now international project partners in disaster relief. This partnership has helped us to become who we are today. Our global network of ShelterBox affiliates, which provides all-round assistance, evolved from Rotary relationships.
