Rotary Clubs, like most other organizations, will benefit from having a plan for the next couple of years.  What are your goals?  What do you want your Club to be like - two or three years down the road?

Strategic planning consists more or less of these three steps.

  • A description of where you are now, the Club’s status.

  • As a group, you and your club members decide what and where you want to be in two, three years.

  • By developing an Action Plan, you and your club members map out how to reach your goals.

Once the plan is approved, you implement it, reviewing it on a regular basis to see how you are doing.  You and your club members analyze the on-going situation. Things may develop differently than you planned.  Why?  What to do?  A strategic plan is a living document and should be used that way.

District 7070 has for many years offered Club Visioning to interested Clubs, using a concept developed by the International Vision Facilitation Council (IVFC).  This model, designed by Rotarians for Rotarians, is used by close to 100 Districts around the Rotary world.  Some Rotarians may recall the sessions where the walls were covered by flip charts listing ideas and suggestions and two rounds of voting to narrow down and prioritize the alternatives.

Last year, IVFC updated to concept, also introducing a virtual version.  More emphasize is now placed on developing the Action Plan and get the Clubs to implement it.  The working material is also more aligned to RI’s Strategic Plan.

On January 15, 2022, an information session on the new model was held online.  Over 50 Rotarians from 30+ D7070 Clubs attended.  We are now setting up Facilitation Teams to assist Clubs that want to run a visioning session, be it in-person or virtually.  You can access the seminar by clicking on this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDOFmsZ08FE&t=209s

Please, contact PDG Lars Henriksson, pdglars.henriksson@gmail.com for more information on Club Visioning in general AND to arrange a visioning session for your Club.  We are also looking for Rotarians who might be interested in being part of the Facilitation Team.
