Technical Assessments Grant
The WASH-RAG Professional Services Committee, through a generous grant from the Wallace Genetics Foundation, can provide a grant (up to $2,000 per club) to cover the cost of required "front-end" technical assessments that a Global Grant cannot fund. Technical Assessments that might be required include hydrogeologic studies of groundwater, test drilling, and engineering designs. This grant can not be used for Community Assessments.

Making WASH Grants More Sustainable:
One of the cornerstone programs of the WASH Rotary Action Group is our Global Grant Review Process.
Rotary and Rotaract Clubs, before they submit their Global Grant Proposal to The Rotary Foundation, can upload it to our website (Global Grant Support) and we will have the Grant reviewed by a WASH Ambassador who is also a Rotary WASH Cadre. The Reviewers will provide suggestions on making the project more sustainable, ensuring the Community Assessment is sufficient, and that the quality of the Grant will make it more likely to be approved by The Rotary Foundation.
By using this service, not only is your project more likely to be approved, but we will donate $2,000 towards your project.
It All Starts With Water: Have you been asked to speak to about WASH at a Club or District? WASH Ambassador, Patrick Coleman, prepared a speech for such an occasion and is making it available to anyone who wants to use it. Download the speech right here .
Do you know a WASH Rotaractor? Calling Rotaractors - we have an opening on the Operations Team of the WASH Rotary Action Group! While their skills are diverse, our Operations Team members are united by a passionate commitment to providing safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to those who don’t have access to these basic human rights. Under the leadership of Rotaract Member and WASH Ambassador Abdul Alhassan, the Operations Team, an active campaign is underway to get Rotaract Members involved in WASH projects in general and to join WASH-RAG. They bring energy, creativity, and technical skills. We are pleased that four Rotaract members have become WASH Ambassadors. Two are located in the United Kingdom, and two are located in Africa. Looking for a Water Project?: Our members often ask "Where can I find an International Partner?" and "How do I get other clubs to support my Project?"
Our Members Asked? - WASHRAG is extremely fortunate to count many dedicated and knowledgeable Rotarians on its team. Which is good - as our membership has lots of questions about the best technology to use on projects, how best to assess local needs, and best practices for sustainable projects. We would like to start a new feature in the newsletter, where you ask the questions and we get answers from our experts and the readers. We will provide the input in a future newsletter. Send your email to info@wasrag.org and indicate QUESTION in the title
To submit stories and pictures our Newsletter, please email: info@wasrag.org to the attention of WASH RAG newsletter editors Ian Rumbles and Terri Black.
We love hearing about your projects and are delighted to relay these great opportunities for Rotarians to get involved in WASH projects! When posting your projects on the wash-rag.org website, please remember to include the name of your Rotary club and District number.
You Can Introduce Your Club to WASH-RAG (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene): It’s easy to become a WASH Advocate by becoming a presenter at your next club meeting, District meeting, or Zone! Your environmentally minded friends, water-conscious community members, and the general public can join us too! Tell them to check us out at www.wash-rag.org or forward this newsletter!

SIX KEY ELEMENTS TO WASH ADVOCACY: When to Invite the Mayor to Your Project? "First off, it is not your project. It is the Community's Project," which is how John Oldfield, WASH Advocacy Expert, might start answering that question. He would likely follow up with, "Not when00 you are cutting a ribbon, but at the first meeting you hold to discuss the project." "Six Key Elements for Successful WASH Advocacy" outlines the steps to implement and sustain a WASH project.
