Join us in sewing to help girls in the Dominican Republic get access to the menstrual pads they need. Join Rotary Toronto Sunrise on Saturday, November 28 from 10:00am - 1:00pm as we put together menstrual pads to support girl's education in the Dominican Republic. Because your period shouldn't put a period in your education. We'll be working away at 44 Carleton Street Toronto, in the Party Room on the second floor. Don't know how to sew or have equipment? No worries, we'll be providing everything and will need plenty of help with cutting fabrics or you can learn how to sew if you want! We'll be guided by Rotarian Janet Thorsteinson who has been organizing Sew So Girls Can Go to School events for years, and who will be bringing sewing machines, supplies and teaching us as we go along. If you do have any fabric at home, old t-shirts, sheets etc. made from cotton or microfibre (really anything that is soft and comfortable) would be much appreciated. And if you have a sewing machine you would like to bring, we would recommend bringing a power cord as well if you have one. Have any questions? Reach out to Lori at lori.brazier@gmail.com.
