There are many Rotarians in Rotary District 7070 that fondly remember Scott Bartle who passed away earlier this year in Florida. A memorial reception celebrating Scott's life was held on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 at the Cainsville Community Center at 15 Ewart Ave. Cainsville, ON.

Kenneth Scott Bartle, just short of his 72nd birthday, unexpectedly passed away on January 23rd, 2026 while vacationing in Florida. He was born on February 22nd, 1954 in Brantford, Ontario to William Kenneth Bartle and Jean Bartle (nee Haworth). From Scott’s early days and youth there are many stories about the mischief and antics he got into growing up in Brantford. However, this same energy was also channeled towards his well-known athletic achievements in a multitude of sports, which provided a positive focus in his life and ultimately led him to the University of Ottawa to play varsity football for the 1975 Vanier Cup winning Gee-Gees.
More importantly Scott was always known and respected for his caring, kind and generous heart which was evident whether you crossed paths with him a single time, as a casual acquaintance, a business connection, a family member or a long-time friend. He liked to make everyone smile and laugh and people were drawn to his warm personality. Those qualities carried through to successful careers working in library republishing /software sales and later in real estate, and also to his dedication as a Rotarian since 1990. He was extremely proud of and committed to improving the lives of others through Rotary’s local and international charitable works. Devoted to his wife and family, Scott was so proud to watch, coach, encourage, advise and even participate with Kela and Jesse in their school events, sports, dance and life pathways, and that same enthusiasm continued as a loving Papa with the arrival of his adored granddaughters Breelle and Charlotte. He demonstrated his love for us every day.
Scott was grateful for and appreciative of many simple pleasures as well. A favourite being time around the dining room table with candles, wine, games and conversation. Scott also loved our comfortable homes in Toronto and now Guelph, and always enjoyed the Florida vacation retreat, a good meal, live music, excursions with friends and family, taking the scenic back roads to get anywhere, and exploring new places while travelling. It was a life well lived. We feel extremely lucky to have shared it with him, and only wish we could have had many more years to continue those traditions and make new memories with him. He will be forever missed by his wife of 38 years Sally Erling-Bartle, his children Kela (Liam) Ashworth, and Jesse (Jackie) Bartle, his beloved grandchildren Breelle and Charlotte Ashworth, his brother Paul (Diane) Bartle and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Mary “Nibs” (Brian) Coulas.
Scott will be remembered for his love, kindness, humor, and devotion to people and passion for community. The family has truly welcomed the love and support and sharing of stories from friends and loved ones over the past few months and which have given us a clear appreciation of the impression he made on others.
