MacGREGOR, GARY ROBERT On Thursday, November 27, 2025, in his 84th year. Son of the late Robert and Lena. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth. Father of Ian and Leslie. Brother of the late Arlene. Will be dearly missed by his brothers-in-law, Norm (Gail) and Ron; Leslie's partner, Dylan; many nephews and nieces and their respective families, as well as his many friends and fellow members of the Scarborough Rotary Club. A private cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Highland Funeral Home – Scarborough Chapel (3280 Sheppard Ave. E., Scarborough, ON M1T 3K3) on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service, with a reception to follow. If desired, donations may be made to the Rotary Club of Scarborough, Charitable Foundation or to Stage Centre Productions.
BOB ELLIOTT - ROTARY CLUB OF OSHAWA-PARKWOOD
Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Port Perry on Monday, January 19th, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. A well-loved father, husband, grandfather, and friend, Bob was known for his quick wit and legendary dad jokes. No gathering was complete without one of his groan-worthy punchlines, delivered with a grin that made it impossible not to laugh.
Bob dedicated many years of his working life to General Motors, where he was known as a dependable hardworking employee who took pride in his work. Starting as a District Sales Manager, Bob moved on to work in the dealer org department and later managed the employee vehicle centre. His strong work ethic and commitment provided a solid foundation for his family and reflected values he lived by every day. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Launi, to whom he was happily married for 62 years. Their marriage was a true partnership – built on love, laughter and unwavering support – and served as an example to all who knew him.
Above all else, Bob was a family man. He will be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, his sense of humour, and the deep love he had for those around him, who along with his wife included his 3 children: Karen(John), Sherrill(Roger), Steve(Aletta), and his 7 grandchildren: Sydney, Buzz, Riley, Cameron, Jackson, Kaci and Grace. His legacy will live on in the stories he told, the laughter shared, and the hearts of everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend for visitation at the McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St., E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Friday, January 23rd from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. The funeral service took place at Christ Memorial Church, 81 Hillcroft St., Oshawa, on Saturday, January 24th at 11 a.m. Interment Thornton Cemetery, Oshawa. SCOTT BARTLE - ROTARY CLUB OF PARKDALE-HIGHPARK-HUMBER
It is with a great sadness that we share this post and news. Scott Bartle, was in a fatal car accident Friday night January 23rd while on vacation in Florida. (he was the only casualty)
His son, Jesse, daughter, Kela, and son-in-law, Liam, are in Florida with his wife Sally, who in a separate event was in hospital from a fall requiring an emergency hip replacement. She is recovering well, out of the hospital now, and we are all together. We are heartbroken and grieving, but also celebrating the life that he lived.
He was all anyone could ask for in a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He cared deeply about everyone around him and it’s incredibly sad to lose such a special human who had a positive impact on anyone he ever came across. There are not many people we’ve met that could uplift a room like he did.
He committed himself 100% to everything he did, and took his time to enjoy all the big and small moments. He did not let any aspect of his life pass him by.
Scott was almost a founding member, of the Parkdale Rotary as he joined the second year.
Under the circumstances we don’t have a plan for a formal event to celebrate his life with friends and family yet, but will inform everyone when we make that decision.
We ask for everyone to take this time to think about how Scott played a role in your life.
DR BILL KING - ROTARY CLUB OF WILLOWDALE
It is with great sadness that on December 31st., we have lost another wonderful friend and fellow Rotarian, Dr. Bill King. He was a very loyal and dedicated Rotarian of the Rotary Club of Willowdale for many years and will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Bill.
Pre-deceased by the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Joan. Cherished brother of Kathy Mezei (Leslie). Loving father of Bill (Leslie) and Nelson (Marie). Deeply beloved grandfather (Poppa) of Mackenzie, Tobias, Brianna, Graydon, Jamieson, Macallan and Cassandra. Bill/Mac/Kenzie was born in Rochester, Minnesota while his father was training at the Mayo Clinic. Grand-nephew of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada for over 21 years. His father, William Lyon Mackenzie King II, graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine in 1937 and served as a surgeon in the Canadian Navy before being tragically killed during the Second World War. His mother, Margery King (née Rean), became the matriarch of the King family, raising Bill and Kathy while returning to the University of Western Ontario and earning her PhD as a single mother. Bill was raised in Toronto, attending UTS high school and later U of T medical school where he graduated in 1965. He continued his training and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1970. During those demanding years, he and Joan somehow also managed to raise two young sons, Billy and Nelson. After completing his surgical training in Toronto, the family travelled to England for a year of specialized training in vascular surgery, followed by six months travelling through Europe in a van with two young children, aged five and six; an early sign of the adventures that would define their family life. After returning to Canada, Bill started his career at North York General Hospital where he worked for over 30 years. Away from work, Bill's passion was the outdoors. Beginning with a canoe trip to Temagami with his boys in 1974 (thanks Alex Furness and the Howells), he became a lifelong canoe tripper, flying all over Canada and even naming a river in the Northwest Territories. Bill was a long time contributing member of the Wilderness Canoe Association (WCA), serving in the past as president of the organization and for many years co-ordinating there presentation at the Toronto Sportsman Show. Travel was always a shared family passion and trips to every corner of the globe are a tribute. Closer to home, a condo in Fernie, B.C. was an incredible family retreat for many years, particularly for the grandchildren for whom trips with Nana and Poppa were always a highlight. Poppa also had musical talents that brought the family together. He played the piano entirely by ear, filling their home on Hi Mount with Christmas carols over the holidays, and familiar tunes during countless birthday celebrations, creating memories cherished by all family members. Later in life, dedicated work at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario brought tremendous satisfaction and reflected his enduring commitment to both the medical profession and the public. An active member of the Rotary Club of Willowdale, he formed lasting friendships and found great purpose in giving back to his community. In later years, he walked alongside his bride through her courageous battle and journey with breast cancer, which brought many tears but no regrets. Although elderly, in the end it was an accidental fall at home and not old age that led to Poppa’s passing. Many thanks and admiration to the team at Sunnybrook who were, to a person, exemplary. Special thanks to Dr. Haas. Barb, you are a caring and incredible person and your care and compassion will not be forgotten. Kenzie will be remembered for his charm, kindness, care for others, and the ever-present glint in his eye. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in his journey.
A celebration of Life for William will be held at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes - Thornhill (8088 Yonge St) on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. Words will be shared at 2:00pm
