It's been a busy few weeks at ShelterBox Canada and we have some exciting news to share with all of you!

Our staff team is back in office after a week in Calgary, Alberta at the Rotary International Convention. Above, you can see ShelterBox representatives from affiliate offices around the world in the USA, UK, Netherlands, and New Zealand. Also in attendance were two of ShelterBox Canada's Response Team Members, Dave Hallett and Andre Bloemink.

We had the opportunity to meet Rotarians from 140 countries, with thousands of new faces at our ShelterBox display daily......

What better place to launch our newest video, voiced by ShelterBox Canada's Ally Buck, on ShelterBox's partnership with Rotary International. Click the image below to watch it now!

Hello to Steph, and a fond farewell to Vicki

As you may be aware, our dedicated Executive Director Stephanie Christensen has been on maternity leave this past year. We are thrilled to welcome her back as of July 2nd. You can connect with Steph by emailing stephchristensen@shelterboxcanada.org

This does also unfortunately mean we must say goodbye to Vicki Raw, our Acting Executive Director. We appreciate her leadership and expertise throughout this past year and wish her all the best in her next chapter. We will miss you, Vicki!

A new look for our 25th Anniversary

Last but certainly not least.. we would like to share what we've been working hard to create for the past year: a brand new website to celebrate 25 years of ShelterBox!

While ShelterBox Canada's core mission remains unchanged, this refreshed brand helps us remain modern, relevant, and efficient. We hope that our dedicated supporters (like you!) will enjoy this simple and convenient way to see how you are making an incredible difference around the world.

If you encounter any issues with the new website, please get in touch so we can fix anything that may have been overlooked.

Over the past 25 years, ShelterBox has provided aid to more than 3 million people in around 100 countries. That's about 300 people per day.

We look forward to what the future holds and how many people we can support together after disaster.

Deployment Updates

Cameroon

Project 12 evaluation is complete. Project 13 is scheduled to begin August 1.

Chad

Project 2 construction of emergency and semi-durable shelters continues alongside community sensitisation on shelter maintenance, social cohesion, and environmental protection.

Ethiopia

Project 7 construction of the demonstration shelters is ongoing. A two-week deployment has been completed, delivering Safety & Security training to field staff in Tigray.

Gaza

Due to ongoing electricity blackouts, there have been further delays in our partner, MAP, providing final data for project 1. Israel continues to blockade humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, causing critical shortage of food and vital supplies. While we were able to deploy tarps and ropes, the final distribution of tents is delayed due to the security situation.

Mozambique

Construction of shelters ongoing. New displacements continue due to ongoing and escalating violence by non-state armed groups.

Myanmar

We aim to support 1000 highly vulnerable earthquake affected households with materials and technical support to repair their earthquake damaged shelters.

The project will support people in 36 villages in three areas, two in Mandalay state and one in Southern Shan state. Implementation will be phased, with an initial small caseload of 50 households to test the model before scaling up over the following months. Project duration will be approximately 5 months.
