June 23-27, 2018, the Rotary world will take over Toronto. In particular, the Air Canada Centre and the Metro Convention Centre. Some 25,000 Rotarians, together with family and friends, will put their mark on the City, attending the 2018 Rotary International Convention. One important part of the Convention is the House of Friendship. We are inviting Rotarians in the six Districts behind the 2018 RI Convention to propose artists, that would be interested in performing on the stage at the House of Friendship. We need your help. Here's how.....

One important part of the Convention is the House of Friendship. Launched at the 1924 RI Convention in Toronto, the House of Friendship is a meeting place to see old friends and make new friendships. Rotarians from all corners of the world will be spending time there to learn about Rotary and Rotary projects, Rotarian Action Groups, Rotary Fellowships and other programs as well as buy Rotary items from vendors.

During the opening hours of the House of Friendship, there will also be entertainment. We want to invite the Convention goers to experience the diversity of the Greater Toronto Area. Local artists and performers from various ethnic groups as well as Canada’s indigenous communities will be scheduled throughout the days.

For this reason, we are inviting Rotarians in the six Districts behind the 2018 RI Convention to propose artists, that would be interested in performing on the stage at the House of Friendship. It may be a single performer like a singer or pianist, but can as easily be a band, choir, dancers or clowns, just to name a few categories. Youth performers are particularly interesting. Maybe your Club is supporting some potential entertainers.

In order to collect information on potential artists for the entertainment at the House of Friendship, we have designed a form that we ask Rotarians and / or interested groups to fill out and send to the Committee. You will find the form on the District’s website, www.rotary7070.org. In addition, you find it here.

Please, feel free to contact PDG Lars Henriksson, lars@norditrade.com, cell. 416-402 6093, if you have any questions, want more information or have ideas about the entertainment at the House of Friendship. We are also looking for volunteers to join our Entertainment Committee, so please let us know if you would be interested in being part of our group.
