In her March 2025 Newsletter, District 7070 Governor Virginia O'Reilly reminds us that March is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Month and asks us "What are you and your Club doing in the area of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene? Do you have some Magic of Rotary stories to share? ". Virginia urges us to go to the Rotary International Convention in Calgary and to be sure an visit the House of Friendship and get ideas for your service projects. Welcome to March 2025! It is said that March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb! We certainly saw some lion-like weather in the last week or so of February…hopefully that will be all?
The March theme in our Rotary calendar is Water, Sanitation and Hygiene – one of the 7 Areas of Focus. When people have access to clean water and sanitation systems and learn about the impact of hygiene the benefits are tremendous…waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, communities overall are healthier.
In a recent Rotary publication there is a quote from Maria Antonia Perez, a Rotary Peace Scholar from Columbia. “Clean water isn’t just a basic necessity; it’s a cornerstone for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development. Through collaborative efforts and unwavering dedication, Rotary and its partners are striving to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to this fundamental human right.”

Are you registered yet? All Rotarians should attend at least one international convention to experience the true international feeling of Rotary. Calgary is a very accessible destination for our District.
