In her February 2025 Newsletter, District 7070 Governor Virginia O'Reilly reminds us that February is Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution Month and asks us to promote peace in our day-to -day interactions. She talks about supporting peace fellows and the Rotary Peace Centres. She asks us to Share the Magic of Rotary by inviting others to join us and share the positive peace impact with them . We can learn even more about the impact of Rotary at the Rotary International Convention in Calgary this June. Virginia announced the nomination of Tina Martin as District Governor Nominee Designate and following 14 days to allow for challenges, Tina will fill that important position. ....... .
Greetings Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors, !!.
Welcome to February 2025!
February is Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month in our Rotary Calendar. Promoting Peace is one of our 7 areas of focus. We are hearing about and seeing a lot of conflict locally and around the world these days. Let’s promote peace in our day-to-day interactions! Make an effort to smile at people as you walk along the street… it doesn’t cost anything and it can brighten someone’s day. You never know what others are coping with and how much a smile can help.
As Rotary, we promote peace by supporting peace fellowships and nominating candidates to become Peace Fellows at Rotary Peace Centres. We also promote peace through our service projects generating understanding and goodwill, improving local economies and health including the eradication of polio.
February is also Rotary’s birthday month. On February 23rd it will be 120 years since Paul Harris convened the first Rotary meeting in Chicago Illinois. Today Rotary includes members dedicated to humanitarian service in over 36,000 clubs and over 200 countries and geographic areas around the world.
Continue to Share the Magic of Rotary and invite others to join us in fellowship and service. We want to share the positive peaceful impact we have on the world to make it a better place to live.
A great way to learn more about the impact we can have as Rotary is to attend an International Convention and this year it is in Calgary from June 22nd to 25th …are you registered yet? All Rotarians should attend to experience the true international feeling of Rotary, and Calgary is a very accessible destination for our District.
Trade ideas with Rotarians from all over the Rotary World. What have you done that you want to share? What ideas will catch your interest for your local community, for our District?
Finally, the District Nominating Committee have selected Tina Martin of the Markham Sunrise Rotary Club as District Governor Nominee Designate (DG for 2027-2028). Following a period of 14 days to allow for any challenges, we will formally acclaim Tina to that position.
May Peace Prevail on Earth!!
