Dear fellow Rotarians,

We are all well-aware that the eradication of polio is Rotary International’s top priority.

We have been striving to accomplish this goal since the 1980s.  While incredible progress has been made, our job is not finished.  With everyone’s support and contributions, we will End Polio Now.

The focus this month on disease prevention and treatment is one of Rotary’s causes for good reason. “The health and vitality of a person, a family and a community can be seriously impaired by what in many cases is a preventable disease.  Disease prevention is really a keystone to progress in other areas as well because of the interplay with other areas of focus like Water and Sanitation and Maternal & Child Health.”.....

Rotarians are involved in significant projects around the world that focus on disease prevention and treatment.  We “set up health camps and training facilities in undeveloped countries and in communities struggling with HIV/AIDS and malaria.  They also design and build the infrastructure for doctors, nurses, governments, and partners to reach the one in six people in the world who can’t afford to pay for healthcare.”

For more information about Rotary projects in this area of focus, log onto your My Rotary account, click on Take Action, and then Rotary Showcase.  Search projects by keywords or browse the latest projects.  You can also add a new project!

Yours in Rotary,

Beth
