Dear fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors,  !!.

September Activities.

September was a busy fun filled month.

Club Visits

I visited 14 clubs, and got a good feeling that the district is alive and kicking, and in good hands.

I am extremely pleased to see the amount of collaboration and socialising between the clubs, and they are not always clubs that are close together.

It is interesting to observe the differences between clubs and happy to see that they all work within the same framework and ideals.

Events

I had an enjoyable afternoon at the Humber River Festival organized by Woodbridge Rotary Club, thanks for the invite from President Emmanuel Abara.

Markham Sunrise fundraiser, “Yuk Yuks Comedy Night” has left me with sore sides from laughing so much. It was indeed a pleasure to be there, thanks to president Tina Martin for the invitation.

This recent weekend saw me attend Rotary Zones 32 and 28 “Learning to Lead” conference, where I was joined by several members of the District Leadership Team. We all think we know all there is to know about Rotary, but we soon found out that was not the case. At this event, our DGE Virginia O’Reilly took another step closer to be DG as she graduated along with her class of fellow DGEs from the Zones.

October Events

The month of October will be a very busy month.

I have 12 club visits scheduled.

We have the Foundation Walk on the 15th of October, and I hope to see many of you there.

District Conference

20th, 21st and 22nd October – Courtyard Oshawa by Marriott

I will keep reminding all of you to register for the District Conference, where we will have time to enjoy fellowship, learn and showcase that we are amazing.

Polio

In recent times there has been little or nothing in news headlines or the general social media in respect to Polio, which seems to have generated a degree of complacency around the world.

In our organization, we have seen a drop in the the number of members making donations to our Polio Plus campaign.

The virus is still out there and we need to continue our work to immunize and give protection to all until we beat this destructive disease.

I have a personal goal, to increase the number of our members in District 7070 who are donating to Polio Plus.

While I am aware that we are in a tough cycle of economic hardship, I am not asking for anyone to donate beyond their means.

In our district alone, if each member donated $10 (The equivalent of 5 coffees at Tim Hortons) that would equate to $20,000.

$20,000 can save a lot of children from crippling paralysis and even death.

I plead with you therefore to give what you can afford, even if it is only $10, you know it’s the right thing to do.

You can donate to Polio Eradication right HERE: https://www.endpolio.org/donate

I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and look forward to meeting with you all soon.
