In his May 2024 Newsletter, District 7070 Governor John Burns, Agent 7070, thanked all of the organizers and their committees for the outstanding  events we had in April. He also reminds of of even more big events coming up in May and in June. He hopes to see us at these events too. He reminds us that May is Youth Services month when many Rotary clubs will be having events to highlight the tremendous work of our Rotary family and encourages us to attend an event in your area. Be sure to see what John has said this month ............

Dear fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors,  !!.

Another month slips away.

I know I am going to miss all the visits and activity which I have enjoyed during my year as your District Governor. I still have 2 months to go and I intend to enjoy every bit of them.

April was a busy month with a lot of activities and presentations and I would be amiss if I didn’t acknowledge and thank a few people who were primarily responsible for their success.

Mark Chipman and his team for RYLS. Yet another successful weekend enjoyed not only by the young participants but also myself.

Susan Hunter and her team of presenters for RLI. The presentations were clearly a hit with the candidates judging by their interaction, enthusiasm and participation.

The Public Image team, especially Mary Lou Harrison, Laura Spear, and Liz Thiam, for their presentation and honest answers to protecting our Rotary brand on April's "Rotary - What's in a Name?" Learning Tuesday.

Nilam Bedi and Lon Appleby, host of the Rotary Global Classroom for our District 7070 environmental Symposium. A heavy subject made interesting and pegged at a level which was easy for the audience to follow and understand.

Dan Coombes who took the lead for the 4th Annual Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup, and a thank you to all who took the lead locally with our clubs around the district. You all made a big impact. This type of clean up should not be considered as something we only do annually. We should try to do it as often as we can get a few Rotarians and friends together and keep up the good work.

I want to give a special mention to the committee who planned and organized the Bowmanville Rotary Club 100-year celebration gala. It was enjoyed by not only members of that club, but also by other district club members and tremendous community support.

May is Youth Service month in Rotary and I know that there are a number of events planned for this. Find one close to you and go support it.

This month on May 21 we have a new Learning Tuesday. A great membership workshop featuring Louisa Horne, Rotary Zone 28 Innovative Club Advocate. A club that is innovative, will attract new members and retain existing members. All of our clubs could learn from this. Please consider joining in.

There are plenty of opportunities to learn and develop your clubs.

Consider registering for some very informative webinars:

May 6 - Simply Irresistible! Keys to building a thriving Club.

June 3 - How to Rock the Boat without Sinking the Ship.

Looking ahead to the next month, we have 2 important dates on the calendar.

June 1st District Assembly

and also

June 20th District Governor Change Over and District Awards night.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Have a great month and keep on “Creating Hope in the World

Yours in Rotary

Burns
