In his December 2023 Newsletter, District 7070 Governor John Burns, Agent 7070, talks about his many visits to clubs and is quite proud that our clubs are in good hands and thriving. He wishes that the rest of the world were the same way and hopes for peace in the world, some day. During this holdiay season, John asks us not forget that there are people in our communities and around the world, who need help. Some who may have lost hope! John asks us all to bring a glimmer of hope to those who have lost it and he wishes all of us all the joy, peace and happiness of the holiday season ..........
Dear fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors, !!.
November was a hectic, busy and enjoyable month, which passed so quickly.
I made a lot of club visits and attended many social events, and I am happy to report that the members and clubs have shown me that our district and our organization are in good hands and thriving.
I wish that the world was in such good shape.
There is so much conflict going on that one wonders if there will ever be an end to it.
If I look back some 250 years, a namesake of mine Robert Burns, when considering “Man’s Inhumanity to Man” in his poem “A man’s a man for awe that”,
Ended with these words :-
For a’ that, an’ a’ that,
It’s comin yet for a’ that,
That Man to Man the warld o’er
Shall brithers be for a’ that.
What he is saying is that irrespective of what is currently happening, that soon all men around the world will realize that they are all the same, and that peace will exist in the world.
That was his hope back then. It certainly has not happened yet, but I pray that some day soon it will.
December, as we enter the holiday season, let us not forget that there are people in our communities and around the world, who need help. Some who may have lost hope!
As Rotarians we all know that every little thing we do, can bring a glimmer of hope to those who have lost it.
It is extremely encouraging to see the vast number of activities and projects currently in action in the district to bring that glimmer of hope and some joy to those who need it.
I am so proud to be a part of our wonderful organization.
