More Rotary Leaders Wanted!
My Fellow Rotarians,
Thank you to all the Rotarians who have stepped up to lead their clubs in the 2018-19 Rotary year as Club Presidents, pivotal leaders without whom Rotary would not exist. I am looking forward to working with you!
To date, we have Presidents-Elect in place for 40 of our 55 clubs (10 more than in my last newsletter submission). Thank you to each of you for stepping into this leadership role.

The goal is to have Presidents-Elect chosen for all our 55 clubs by 31 December 2017. Currently, we have 30 Presidents-Elect in place. Thank you to each of you for stepping into this leadership role. I am looking forward to working with you!

This picture is from the Rotary International Convention in Chicago in 2005, when I was President-Elect for the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise. In the photo, the then Club President, Peter Gorham, and I are preparing to put a letter into a special time capsule as part of Rotary’s Centennial celebrations!
Training is an important part of developing leaders, and our District 7070 Training Team will make sure that our Presidents have the tools they need to lead their clubs with confidence and support.
Here are the key training dates leading up to 1 July 2018:
Presidents-Elect “Meet & Greet” Online Meeting – Wednesday, January 24, 2018 – 8:00 p.m. for up to 45 minutes. GoToMeeting link to be sent out in the new year!
Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS1) - Saturday, February 3, 2018 - 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Oshawa Golf & Curling Club.
Rotary Foundation Grants Qualification Seminar – Saturday, February 10, 2018 – 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oshawa Golf & Curling Club. 2 members per club to attend.
– Friday, March 2, 2018 - 4:30 p.m. to Saturday, March 3, Multi-District PETS (PETS2) 2018 at 4:30 p.m. at the BMO Institute for Learning, 3550 Pharmacy Ave., Toronto
Presidents-Elect Trip to Rotary International in Evanston – Sunday, March 4 to Monday, March 5, 2018 – optional but super fun!!! Partners/spouses are welcome to attend.
District Training Assembly – Saturday, May 12, 2018 – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the BMO Institute for Learning, 3550 Pharmacy Ave., Toronto.
And, of course, don’t forget the Rotary International Convention in Toronto in June of 2018. This will be an amazing opportunity to kick off your year as Rotary Club President by meeting other Rotary leaders from around the world.
