Background

Each year Rotary District 7070 selects and awards Rotarians, Clubs and/or groups with awards for achievement in a variety of areas.   Each award has a specific meaning and value.  Recipients are selected by The District Awards Committee.  The District Awards Chair will normally be the Immediate Past District Governor.   Committee members will include the DG, DGE, DGN, and DGND. Awards are open to all clubs in District 7070. Some of them are annual. The others will only be awarded at the DG's discretion in any given year.  A list of awards can be found in Appendix A of the District Policy and Procedure Manual located on the www.rotary7070.org site under “About Rotary and District 7070” then District Policy and Guidelines.

Individual Rotarians and/or Clubs have, in the past requested to sponsor specific awards.  In order to provide a fair and equitable opportunity for all Rotarians or Clubs to sponsor, the following guidelines have been developed.

Qualifications:

An individual Rotarian or Club must be in good standing within their Club and District 7070.  They must be a Rotarian in District 7070.

Principles:

The following principles have been developed for the sponsorship process:

  • The process is simple and easy to administer

  • This is an opportunity for a Rotarian to show gratitude to the recipients by helping support a charity of their choice

  • The intent is not to market a business

  • Every Rotarian will be provided an opportunity to sponsor an award at some point

  • Allow five-year sponsorship with upfront financial commitment

  • Annual sponsorships are drawn at random with preference going to first time sponsors

  • Repeat annual sponsors only allowed if there aren’t enough first-time sponsors

  • Platinum sponsor follows same principles with amount going to the Districts project of choice

The application process will open from February 1st to March 10st each year. All applications must be completed through the event page.  Click here.

Applicants will select which award they wish to sponsor with priority given to first-time sponsors.  Sponsorship opportunities will be awarded via random draw of first-time applicants or in the absence of first time applicants, repeat applicants.

Proceeds from sponsorship, other than Platinum sponsorship, will go to a selected initiative chosen by the Award winner.

Platinum sponsorship will be allocated to the District initiative as selected by the Awards Committee

Any Rotarian  or Club has the option to sponsor an award for a five-year period with the full financial commitment paid upfront.

The recipients of the awards will not be disclosed prior to being awarded.
