Please join me in congratulating Tina on being selected to the role of DGND (District Governor Nominee Designate).   I hope that you will support Tina in her new role and offer her your congratulations!

Virginia O’Reilly

2024-25 District Governor

Special thank you to all who participated in the selection process.

Lets meet Tina.......

Let's Meet Tina:

Tina Martin, an entrepreneur, wife and mother of two adult daughters and a proud Rotarian.  After a fulfilling career working with her husband in their landscape design/construction business, Tina has recently retired. When a neighbour asked, "Do you like wine?" - she responded, "Sure, I think.....why? Are you about to make me an offer I can't refuse?"   So, after a weekend of fun (and serving up beer and wine) at a Rotary Ribfest, she couldn't refuse the invitation to join the Rotary Club of Markham Sunrise.

Her first term as President was during 2020 when we all had to pivot and find new ways to stay connected.  To keep the vibe light and fun, the Markham Sunrise Club took walks in the forest, gathered bottles for a bottle drive and collected shoes and boots for people experiencing homelessness.  Meal deliveries were coordinated with local restaurants and the Markham Stouffville Hospital to feed the hospital workers - and over 4000 meals were delivered. Tina was honoured with a Paul Harris Fellowship award by her club in 2022.

During her second term as Club President, the Markham Sunrise Club held an 80's Dance Night, a Music Night at a local pub and a Nail Extravaganza to collect the donations of over $100000 needed to audit and ship 100 million dollars of medical equipment and medication to Ukraine.

Recently, she led the planning team for the District Conference for Virginia O'Reilly at the Nottawasaga Inn.  Whether it's wrangling volunteers for the Markham Santa Claus parade, or setting up a Comedy night,  Tina tries to bring energy, passion, and a touch of humour to everything she does.

She currently serves as the Assistant Governor for Willowdale Rotary and Rotaract, North York and York clubs.  She has met many wonderful people and attended amazing events in this role - it's been truly rewarding.

When not tackling Rotary projects, you'll find her creating meaningful moments with her family and friends, teaching quilting at a local quilt shop or planning a new travel adventure.

Tina believes that great leadership is about making meaningful connections and having a little fun along the way.  Her goal is to continue to make a difference as the District Governor in 2027 by encouraging clubs to share resources, exchange ideas and work collectively to serve our communities.
