This year marks the 10th anniversary of the People of Action Honors program launched by Rotary International in 2015 to recognize members who create change — in their communities or around the world. Their projects demonstrate how Rotary members are truly people of action. In recognition of this milestone, Rotary magazine is profiling past recipients in its Decade of Doers series.

Past honoree Stella Dongo and other members of the Rotary Club of Highlands, Zimbabwe, started the Community Empowerment Project in 2009 with a US$300,000 grant from The Rotary Foundation. It will teach computer and business skills to young people and women. Read about Dongo’s journey out of a challenging childhood to empower others.
