Are you a Curler?  We are searching for Rotarians who enjoy the sport of Curling.  We want to share the fellowship and keen competition of Rotary Curling. Because of the pandemic the last two seasons have been difficult in the curling community with lockdowns and social distancing requirements.  It has been the same for Rotary Curling.  The Biannual Rotary Worlds in Madison Wisconsin and the annual Can Am bonspiels in Peterborough and Grimsby were cancelled. The Rotary World Championships were held in Dumfries Scotland  April  8 to 15 this year.  Hopefully this fall and winter will bring a better curling season.  The Rotary Club of Grimsby plans to host the CanAm Bonspiel Thursday February 2 to Saturday February 4, 2023. Please save the date!.....

We need to update and expand the contact list of Rotary Curlers.  Clarence Haverson from the Guelph Trillium Rotary Club has maintained this contact list.

Please reply to chaverson@rogers.com  to be included in the list and receive information on Rotary Curling.  Also please share this information with anyone you know who is a curler and a Rotarian.

A bit more about Rotary Curling

The Rotary CanAm Bonspiel is an annual 3 day  bonspiel which started in the 1960’s.  It has rotated from one Club and community to another each year.   The Bonspiels are usually Thursday to Saturday in late January or early February.

The Bonspiel is open to any Rotary curler – no rules about from one Rotary Club, gender, age, etc.  The curlers play 4 – 5 games and enjoy great fellowship with other Rotarians.  .

The teams have been primarily from Ontario, London to Barrie to Ottawa, and we have had 3 - 6 United States teams each year from New York, Minnesota, North Carolina,  as well as teams from Quebec

The winners are eligible to go to the week long Rotary World Curling Championship which is held every other year in Scotland, Canada or the United States.   This is great fun, great fellowship and good curling too.

If you have any interest at all in the Rotary fellowship of the CanAm we would be pleased to answer any questions . Please contact Chas Daly at ccdaly@icloud.com   or  Bill Hughes  at hughesbill43@gmail.com
