Rotarians in Canada Say :  “Let’s Celebrate Oral Health Month Together while keeping the kids safe at home!”

Need a change for your kids during these challenging times?  Over 300 Rotary Clubs all over Canada have some great ways to keep your kids entertained this month and have fun at home while staying healthy.

April is Oral Health Month!  Rotary Club members are encouraging children across Canada to enter the Brush-a-mania online contest at www.brushamania.ca.

Dr. Raffy Chouljian, Past President of the Scarborough Rotary Passport Club, and founder of Brushamania announced to the children of Canada, “We are giving away an Xbox One and 50 Android tablets just for brushing your teeth.”

The contest is open from April 1 to May 31, 2020 to all elementary students in Canada. We are asking everyone to go to www.brushamania.ca for contest rules and to register.

Something new has been added for 2020. Dr. Chouljian announced, “As we celebrate our 20th year of Brush-a-mania, we are also organizing the Great Canadian Brush-off.”

“We are asking all Canadians, of any age, to join in the fun on Wednesday April 22 at 12 noon EDT by brushing their teeth for 2 minutes. Please go to www.brushamania.ca to register and participate while promoting good oral health,” he added.

Dr Chouljian wants everyone to send him your fun pics and videos brushing your teeth. “Be sure to  share your family brushing together on social media and please use the hashtag @brushamania”, he said..

Brush-a-mania is a not-for-profit program designed to promote oral health and awareness among young children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. It was started in 2001 by the Scarborough Rotary Passport Club and has already reached over 800,000 students across Canada.

“Our goal is to educate and motivate children and bring together dentists, Rotarians, teachers and parents to create a celebration together around the importance of proper dental care in a fun and interactive way”, he said.

For two decades, Brushamania has coordinated dentist visits to schools to educate students. Each student receives a toothbrush and toothpaste compliments of our major sponsor Colgate. This year, because of the school closures and COVID-19 crisis, Brushamania is unable to reach the students directly through the schools.  However, educating and motivating the children remains our top priority.

Rotarians , here in the 10 Rotary Clubs in Durham Region, along with the more than 300 Clubs across the country are asking for the public’s help today,  to reach every student in Canada.

“Spread the word to family and friends so they may participate as well.  Let’s stay safe and healthy at home and have fun during Oral Health Month”, he added..
