With COVID, our D7070 Conference has had to be rescheduled a few times.  We are now excited to announce that our Conference, “Heroes and Champions”, has been scheduled for June 25-26, 2021 and will be a hybrid celebration with fun activities including community engagement events and inspiring online speakers!

To see what we have in store, please "Read more".......

Friday, June 25

Be one of 12 clubs to sponsor a ShelterBox Tent Kit for $1,200 and have the privilege of having the Tent Kit delivered to a home of your choice for approx. a week including the Friday sleepover/party – perhaps this takes place at the home of your deserving Club President as a thank you for their service this year or someone else in your club to host a fun, outdoor celebration for all club members and Rotarians in your area!

  • We will connect on a Zoom call in the evening with all parties across the District!!  Act quickly, several clubs have already expressed interest in sponsoring a Tent Kit (3 tents have been sponsored in just 3 days)!!!  Contact Debbie Morgan (debbiem@rogers.com) to secure your Tent Kit now!  Fun in the name of providing shelter for those in crisis!

Saturday, June 26, 9-noon - the Zoom portion of the weekend.  With the help of technology, we will have an awesome program:

  • Superhero Evan Burrell joining us from Australia

  • 2021-21 Rotary International VP and our PDG Val Wafer

  • Honouring Indigenous People + Environmental Program

  • Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup Highlights

  • Celebration of D7070 Heroes and Champions

Saturday, June 26, 1-4 pm. Community Engagement - We are encouraging each club to get out into the community in the afternoon and do a hands-on activity - paint an outdoor fence for a local women’s shelter, plant a flower bed at a senior’s centre, package food for a food bank or Kids Against Hunger, clean up a neighbour’s yard, assembly hygiene kits for young women in the DR, host a community outside BBQ, etc.!

To encourage participation, the District will offer $500 to the first 30 clubs to submit a request to Helen Lackey (helenlackeyrotary@gmail.com). Your request will need to describe your hands-on initiative and the purpose of the funds (for the event or perhaps a pizza lunch for the crew), commit to having 10 people at both the morning Zoom call and at the hands-on activity (if need be, perhaps collaborate with another club to make up the 10), commit to submitting videos and/or pics to social media during the day and including #rotary7070 and @rotarydistrict7070 in your posts.

Registration for the Conference will be a nominal $10 registration fee – all going to the Rotary Foundation. Registration will be up on the District website by March 15, 2021

Refunds for those who have already registered – option to donate to TRF!

For those members who have already paid your registration fees for the previous Conference date, you are entitled to a full rebate of this registration fee.  However, there is an option to donate this money to the Rotary Foundation (TRF).

The demands for support of the Rotary Foundation have doubled in 2020 and RI was not able to fund all projects that they were asked to support.

The option exists to donate your registration fee to TRF.  You will receive a tax receipt, and you and your club will get recognition. Also, many more worthwhile projects will be funded by the TRF!

So, please send a message to Helen Lackey (helenlackeyrotary@gmail.com) letting her know to either issue you a full rebate or donate a portion of the full registration fee to TRF.   The rebate will go back to the credit card from which the payment was made. If that's not possible, please let Helen know and we will issue the rebate by cheque.  For donations to TRF, we will look after submitting all money and information to TRF and you will then get your tax receipt.

This is going to be an awesome Conference!!
