Presidential conferences link peace, other areas of focus. Discover innovative ways to achieve peace in your community and throughout the world at one of six presidential peacebuilding conferences in 2018.

Convened by RI President Ian H.S. Riseley, the events will focus on how peace relates to each of Rotary’s five other areas of focus, as well as to environmental sustainability.
The conferences, from February to June, will be led by Rotary districts. The series’ goals are to enhance Rotary’s position as a global leader in each area of focus, demonstrate The Rotary Foundation’s impact in the world, build knowledge to inspire and improve Rotary’s service engagement, and provide a platform for members and non-members to network, make connections, and explore partnerships for local and global projects.
One of Riseley’s goals for clubs during his term is to promote environmental sustainability. He is challenging every Rotary club to plant at least one tree per member by Earth Day, April 22, 2018.
The first conference, in Vancouver, B.C., will focus on how sustaining the environment can enhance peace. Learn more about each conference and how to register at bit.ly/2wpHGo4.

My Fellow Rotarians,
District 7070 has created a Peace-building Committee to help share Rotary’s ongoing vision to raise the profile of peace and to create an environment to learn more about the ‘building blocks’ of Peace-building through mediation, dispute resolution, and negotiation. These conferences highlight the areas in which Rotary does its most significant work. They will focus on how peace relates to each of Rotary’s five other areas of focus as well as environmental sustainability. The first Environmental Sustainability and Peace conference is in our own backyard, Vancouver, BC on February 10, 2018. Come join DG Neil and me as we learn more about Rotary’s focus on environmental sustainability.
The series will elevate Rotary’s status as a global leader in each area of focus; demonstrate The Rotary Foundation’s impact in each area of focus; build knowledge to inspire participants and increase their service engagement; and provide a platform for members and non-members to network, make connections and explore partnerships for projects as Rotary: Making a Difference.
