Here is a copy of District Governor Elect Ron Dick's final remarks as DGE :

Good evening everyone!  Hello Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors.  Mark thank you for a great picture summary of the year and thank you for your leadership this year!  You are a popular guy as you have 130 people online for our 2021 Virtual Awards night.

Now what is this about a Chicago trip.  Mark and I will be connecting with RI next week to confirm one weekend in November, either the 8th, 15th or 22nd  for both the 2020-2021 and the 2021-2022 Club Presidents.

I was going to show you some pictures as I spoke but Mark had them all in his presentation.  So you know that the District Governor Team met face to face for the first time this year just last Wednesday, June 23rd at the Courtyard Pub in Courtice.  At our lunch we pinned Mark with his Past District Governor’s pin and passed down the DG and DGE Pins.  Earlier this afternoon Karen and I paid a short visit to Mark and Leslie to say thank you to Leslie for her service to our Rotary District this past year with a nice bouquet of flowers.

I have heard from some of the Past District Governors that there would be something that would come up each that a District Governor couldn’t plan for and that you had to be resilient and react.  Well Mark you had the granddaddy of those surprises in the Covid Pandemic.

Mark, you were the first District Governor that had to run all your meetings and celebrations start to finish here tonight virtually.  And you rose to the challenge.  Thank you for guiding us and in some dragging forward in the world of technology to keep us connected.

Your monthly newsletter and weekly Monday DG Monday Emails kept the upcoming events and important current news in front of Rotarians and Rotary Club Presidents.

Your launch of Tuesday Talks under the direction of our District Training Chair, Past District Governor Beth Selby introduced us to timely topics each month and International Quality Presenters like Bow Tie Jenkins speaking on Diversity, Dr. Elizabeth Bagely on Climate Change Solutions and Gail Oudah on Conflict Management. By the way each of these sessions were recorded and available on our District Website and on our District Youtube Channel.

And it wasn’t just Zoom, websites and emails.  You also showed how to elevate our game in using Facebook.  It was great to see the regular posts of your visits to various events and online club meetings from around the District.   But is was equally important for the other clubs and Rotarians to what other projects and activity were happening around the District.  All through the year, as covid lockdown rules permitted you were out there celebrating with us and having fun.  In one marathon Saturday, Mark and Leslie visited 16 club events in one day starting in Campbellford in the morning and working their way across the District to finish up in Woodbridge Ribfest for dinner!

Mark and Leslie, thank you for your leadership in keeping us connected when we needed it the most and thank for the great smile and enthusiasm that brightened up every meeting and event you took part in.  I look forward to continuing our work together next year.  Please join me in a round of applause and a toast to say thank you to Mark and Leslie!
