Last year the Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee had a viewing audience; over 53 million in the United States and 28 million around the world in more than 220 territories. The Tournament estimates that more than 700,000 are present live on the parade route; 100,000 view the floats as they are decorated; and approximately 60,000 view the post-parade floats. In his January 2018 letter to Rotarians, Past District Governor Michael Bell, thanks Rotarians and Rotary Clubs for their contributions to The Rotary Foundation that make such a positive difference in the lives of so many people worldwide. He encourages Clubs to meet and exceed their goals that they have sent into Ted Morrison and placed on to Rotary Club Central for the Annual Programs Fund, the Polio Fund, and the Endowment Funds. Global or District Grant Projects? Your Club Must Be Qualified!
Every Rotary Club that wants to apply for Rotary Foundation Grant funds (Global Grants or District Grants) must be qualified. The qualification is for one Rotary year and must be renewed yearly. At least two members of each Club must take part in the Rotary Foundation Qualification Seminar, arranged by the District. This year's Seminar will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Registration at 8.30 am, Seminar starts at 9 am. Adjournment at 1:30 pm. Venue to be the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club, 160 Alexandra Street, Oshawa, Ontario. For the last few summers, the Rotary Club of Toronto Eglinton has hosted one student from the Baikal Business School at the University of Irkutsk in Siberia. The students, who are in an international business program, have spent four to six weeks in Toronto. In addition to their Russian degree, the students also complete an on-line degree at the University of Maryland.You can host too. Please read more to see all of the details.....

On Monday, June 25, 2018 The Host Organizing Committee (that is us – your club and mine) is holding “Home Hospitality”. The Committee members, Jackie Davis and Don Bell are still looking for Rotarians and Rotary Clubs in the District, particularly in the GTA, to host Convention delegates for a night of home hospitality. They expect 5,000 delegates to sign up. This is a calling out to Rotarians in District 7070 for entertainment suggestions for the Toronto 2018 Rotary International Convention. I am the co-chair of entertainment for the 2018 Convention and if you could just drop me an email with your suggestions and/or thoughts, our team would consider all possibilities. We are also responsible for entertainment for the House of Friendship – We are hoping to have new entertainment each hour. So far, I have had applications from local choirs; fashion show presenters, martial arts, school bands etc. District 7080 has really taken this project on and sent me a myriad of suggestions. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Phelan, the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Toronto East, and the father of our Past District Governor Mike Phelan (Rotary Club of Toronto East), and the grandfather of Christine Phelan White (Rotary Club of Toronto Twilight).
Bill to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2017, three weeks short of his 96th birthday......

Rotary Clubs, like any other organizations, need to have a plan for where they are heading. In order to assist Clubs to develop a vision, the District has a team of experienced Rotarians who can facilitate visioning sessions. Since we started the program, five or six years ago, close to 40 Cubs have held sessions. A few Clubs have held two or three sessions, up-dating their vision on a regular basis.
