WAYNE ROUTLY - ROTARY CLUB OF BOWMANVILLE

ROUTLY, Eric “Wayne” - April 30th, 1940 - February 3rd, 2022:  It is with great sadness that our long time friend and fellow Rotarian, Wayne Routly passed away on Thursday. Wayne passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Clough) for 57 wonderful years. Loving father of Kristine (Christopher) and Peter (Robyn). Cherished grandfather of Eric & Leah Kellestine and Rachel & Tess Routly. Predeceased by his brother Lloyd Routly and his sister Norma Wood. Wayne was a wonderful Brother-in-Law, Uncle and Great Uncle and looked forward to all things ‘family’. Born and raised in Peterborough, ON, Wayne and Carol met in Oshawa and married 6 months after their first date. Wayne enjoyed a dynamic and diverse career with General Motors that offered not only work opportunities but family experiences that included 35 years of committed service and moves across the country. He was a dedicated Rotarian for over 40 years (Rotary clubs of Woodstock, Oshawa-Parkwood, Fenlon Falls, and Bowmanville and also an Assistant Governor here in District 7070) and served tirelessly on the Youth Justice Committee. Wayne always believed in giving back to people and was involved in every community where he resided, ‘Service Above Self’. Wayne’s kind-hearted and caring personality was felt by all who knew him and he shall be deeply missed. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville for their care and compassion. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Lakeridge Health Foundation – Bowmanville Site or Rotary Club of Bowmanville, Charitable Trust. Online condolences may be left at armstrongfh.ca .
