Hello District 7070 Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Earlyactors!

February’s Rotary theme is one of our Seven Areas of Focus-  Peace & Conflict Prevention / Resolution!

Rotary has many Peace initiatives throughout the world from helping form the United Nations in 1945 and continuing to participate in the UN as one of the highest non-government organizations.

Rotary continues to be an active participant in Peace building throughout the world through the many Peace Centres, 130 Peace Fellowships awarded each year along with $5.6 Million for 128 Global Grants for Peace Projects.  Peace building is part our District through the Youth Exchange program and the Rotary Youth Leadership Symposium, May 26th to the 29th, 2022.

District 7070 is very fortunate to have our own Peace Scholar, Jothi Shanmugam. Jothi has recently been awarded a Rotary Peace Scholarship, and was sponsored by The Etobicoke Rotary Club.  She is looking forward to going to Queensland where she will be studying peace and conflict resolution.  For more information on the Peace & Conflict Prevention / Resolution Area of Focus, please contact Committee Chair, Ian Lancaster of the Campbellford Rotary Club.  For more information on Peace Scholars please contact Committee Chair, PDG Lynda Ryder of the Etobicoke Rotary Club.  Contact for Ian and Lynda can be found on the Club Runner app on your cell phone!

The next Rotary Foundation Gala is coming up on Wednesday, February 23rd at 8pm.  Please sign up for an amazing event to support our Rotary Foundation.

February 23rd is also World Understanding and Peace Day when we celebrate Rotary International’s 117th birthday!
