Thanks to everyone who attended the 2019 District Conference!  Almost 350 Interacters, Rotaracters, Rotarians, and friends enjoyed a spectacular autumn weekend at the JW Marriott The Rosseau Resort & Spa.

The extraordinary plenary session speakers including Amanda Lindhout, The Military Generals, and Erin Davis were inspiring, engaging and transforming.  Our fantastic breakout session presenters highlighted the topics of Human Trafficking, the Global Water Shortage and the Role of Rotary, Literacy Initiatives, Poverty Reduction and S.T.E.M., and Saving the Lives of Indigenous Mothers and Children in Guatemala.  We learned more about our Inbound Youth Exchange Students from their one minute videos and the Fireside Chat on Saturday night.......

We had lots of fun at Oktoberfest, the Hospitality Rooms, and Games Night with Live Music provided by Don Owen, President of the Rotary Club of Cobourg, and Bruce Longman.  The positive energy and enthusiasm was incredible!

Special thanks to our Rotary International President’s Rep, Valarie Wafer.  Valarie is a District 7070 Past District Governor and Rotary International Director beginning July, 2020.  She talked about embracing change at the club and district levels.

Our district conference emcee was York Bell-Smith from My Broadcasting Company in Cobourg.  York is well-known to Cobourg Rotarians as the emcee of the Northumberland Ribfest & Music Festival.

A special thank you to Graham Read who designed the 2019 District Conference App and Kamryn Woods who helped our guests learn how to navigate it.  This was a great new feature to the district conference experience.

My sincere thanks to members of the 2019 District 7070 Conference Committee -
Co-Chairs, Randy Oliver and Helen Lackey, Bruce McCartney, Kym Read, Stephanie Johnston, Peter Dounoukos, Lynda Kay, Brian Read, Roger Tessier and Barry Vail.  You created the “most awesomest” district conference.  Thank you!

Yours In Rotary,

Beth
