Dear fellow District 7070 Rotarians,

Rotary Muskoka Style ... Reconnect.  Reflect.  Relax.

The 2019 District Conference is being held at the JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa October 25-27th - just in time to enjoy a beautiful fall weekend in Muskoka.  Consider extending your stay and have a mini vacation.

There are two distinctive features that will make the 2019 District Conference unique and memorable. The first feature is the location.  The JW Marriott welcomes you to their luxurious surroundings overlooking Lake Muskoka.  The second feature is our speakers.  We have booked amazing speakers  that you’ll not want to miss! .......

On Saturday morning, you will hear the New York Times best-selling author, Amanda Lindhout.  Her book A House in the Sky is a powerful personal story of her 460 days in captivity with Islamic insurgents in Somalia.

Following Amanda, we have the first ever Live Panel discussion with three Generals.  One from Canada, one from the United States, and one from Denmark.  They will speak on The Military’s Role in Peace Building and Conflict Prevention.

On Sunday morning, our featured speaker is Erin Davis.  Erin needs no introduction as she is well-known as the former morning Co-Host of CHFI 98.1 in Toronto.  She, too, is a best-selling author with her book Mourning Has Broken.  Erin will speak to us about love, lost and reclaiming joy.

We also have some amazing breakout sessions including Mental Health & Artificial Intelligence,  Human Trafficking, The Global Water Shortage and How Rotarians Can Help, Saving the Lives of Indigenous Mothers and Children in Guatemala, and District Literacy Initiatives: Local and International with a presenter from Trinidad, W.I.

We have lots of fun planned, too!  Friday night is Oktoberfest with a Muskoka Breweries tasting and our Rotary trademark Hospitality Rooms.  During our Saturday night dinner, we will be entertained by a fireside chat with our Inbound Rotary Youth Exchange Students.  The fun continues after dinner with our Games Room where we will have a 9 hole Mini Putt, Air Hockey, Corn Toss, and other fun games where you can have a friendly competition with old and new friends.  Enjoy some Live Music by Don Owen, 2019-2020 President of the Rotary Club of Cobourg.

The registration cost of $349 pp includes all meals, first class speakers, games, hospitality rooms, Oktoberfest, fellowship, and fun!  We have negotiated a fantastic room rate starting at $135/night.  Register now and book your room soon to get this low rate.

We look forward to seeing you in Muskoka!

Beth
