They set up health camps and training facilities in undeveloped countries and in communities struggling with HIV/AIDS and malaria. They also design and build the infrastructure for doctors, nurses, governments, and partners to reach the one in six people in the world who can't afford to pay for healthcare. District Grants 2017-18 up-date: Rotary Clubs in D7070 submitted District Grant project proposals, requesting more grant funds than we could distribute, based on the regulations set up by the Rotary Foundation. All projects were deemed to be good, so the decision was made to award 80% of the requested amount to each project. Read more for all the important news.....

At the Rotary Uncorked District 7070 Conference, District Governor Neil Phillips presented me with a $10,000 cheque for ShelterBox Canada. I was so overjoyed, and want to share with you why. In Bangladesh, ShelterBox has been working closely with Rotary Clubs from District 3282 to help support around 3,000 families following widespread flooding in the north of the country. Local Rotarians have been invaluable in providing logistical support and access to areas of Bangladesh that would have been extremely difficult to reach without Rotary’s network of contacts throughout the country. ......

On Thursday November 23rd, in Etobicoke Collegiate's Library, the Etobicoke Collegiate Interact Club organized and lead a group of more than 50 students write more than 700 letters to the students attending BAYBAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Ozamiz City in the Phillipines. This is a calling out to Rotarians in District 7070 for entertainment suggestions for the Toronto 2018 Rotary International Convention. I am the co-chair of entertainment for the 2018 Convention and if you could just drop me an email with your suggestions and/or thoughts, our team would consider all possibilities. We are also responsible for entertainment for the House of Friendship – We are hoping to have new entertainment each hour. So far, I have had applications from local choirs; fashion show presenters, martial arts, school bands etc. District 7080 has really taken this project on and sent me a myriad of suggestions. Rotary Clubs, like any other organizations, need to have a plan for where they are heading. In order to assist Clubs to develop a vision, the District has a team of experienced Rotarians who can facilitate visioning sessions. Since we started the program, five or six years ago, close to 40 Cubs have held sessions. A few Clubs have held two or three sessions, up-dating their vision on a regular basis.
