TORONTO MARLIES HELP ROTARY END POLIO ON FEB 2, 2013

ROTARY AWARENESS DAY AT RICOH COLISEUM

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

The Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League are helping Rotary District 7070 raise money to help eradicate polio on Saturday, February 2, 2013, ROTARY Awareness Day.

Bill Patchett and the District 7070 Rotary Foundation Committee are offering for sale 300 tickets to the hockey game on Saturday, February 2, 2013 between the Toronto Marlies and the Hamilton Bulldogs (farm team of the Montreal Canadiens) at the Ricoh Coliseum, 100 Princess Blvd, Toronto. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 pm (But if the NHL lockout is stiil in effect, the game time will be 7:00 pm. Be sure to check the newspapers closer to the game date).

We have an opportunity to raise a lot of money for Polio. Whichever Club or Clubs that wish to be involved will get the credit for the money raised through this project. We will need at least eighteen volunteers to be at the front entrance.

We will accept you and your club on a 'first come -first serve' basis.

The tickets will cost $23.00 and we can sell them for $30.00. This means if we can attract 300 people, we will profit by $2,100.00 on tickets sales alone. Really, this is quite within our range and can be done.

We will be asking attendees to donate $ 2.00 towards saving the young ones from contracting Polio.

And there will be 50-50 tickets to be sold. Half of the revenue will go to Polio Eradication and of course, half to a lucky winner. Two ace sales people will accompany me to maximize the sales.

There will be a short video presentation shown on the screen in order for fans to realize just what Our Polio Eradication program is all about.

Tickets are being sold for $30 each. The Regular Retail Toronto Marlie ticket price $33. Rotary will make $7.00 per ticket and the proceeds will go to The Rotary Foundation Polio Plus Fund. Cheques should be made out to Rotary international District 7070 and your Rotary Club will be given credit to contributing to the Polio Plus Fund of The Rotary Foundation.

Please choose someone in your Rotary Club to be the Contact Person for this Polio Eradication and Rotary Awareness Day Special Event

Just to give people a chance to give the tickets away for the holiday season, we have promised that any orders we  have by Wednesday, December 19 by 3 pm,  will be delivered to the Contact Person in your Rotary Club contact by Friday, December 21 in the afternoon.  Any tickets not sold by December 19, will be sold in January 2013. We can keep selling tickets until game day.

Tickets can be ordered from Lars Henriksson at  lars@norditrade.com or tel. 416-489 8438. We are committed to sell 300 tickets. We OWN them! And we need everyone in the District to help us sell the tickets and raise money to help eradicate Polio.

I will appreciate your support with this project. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!

I ask that the Assistant Governors to please follow-up with your Rotary Clubs.
